What to prepare for your bridal trial.

The trial is such an exciting event. It is the day you finally see how your whole look for your wedding comes together. You have a picture in your head of how you want to look as a bride and at your trial your makeup artist makes that a reality. Eeeek, such a privilege.

It can also be stressful. If you do not know what to prepare for or expect. I have put together, in detail, what you need to prepare. I am here for you every step of the way.

My first bit of advice is to schedule your dress fitting on the same day or engagement shoot, bridal shower at least a dinner date. (We can always tweak the look to keep it a secret). The reason I say this, is that it is very important to test the makeup and hair. How it holds. You need to wear it for as long as you can. I will ask for an update the next day to make notes for the wedding day.

Send through some makeup and hairstyle inspiration. I like preparing myself creatively, it also gives me some insight into your personality.

Before the trial you need to make sure you have done the following beauty, hair and skincare:

  • Have you gone for regular facials and gotten skincare advice to make sure your skin is in its best condition. If you are planning on having a facial before your wedding day it is vital that you test this before your trial to make sure you do not break out or react in any way.

  • Make sure your eyebrows are waxed and shaped before hand, if you do not book this with me for the day.

  • Spray tans or tan cans. You need to test these before the trial as well to make sure you are happy with the colour.

  • Make sure I am aware of any skin care sensitivities or allergies you might have.

  • If you are planning on have semi permanent lashes put on, then you need to have this done before the trial.

The studio address is Mighty Fine Productions at Rosemary Hill Farm. All navigation systems will pick it up.

On the day:

  • Wear a colour close or similar to the colour of your wedding dress. The colour we wear influences our complexion.

  • You need to wash and blow dry NOT air dry your hair the day before.

  • Come with a clean face especially NO mascara.

  • Bring with any jewellery, hair jewellery and your veil, if you have it.

  • You do NOT need to bring any foundation I have from the very very fairest to the very very darkest.

  • You do NOT need to bring any grips or ties.

At the trial I will have my studio set up and ready for us to start, this is what to expect:

  • If you feel comfortable with it I will ask you if we can take a before and after.

  • We will discuss your makeup and hair references and choose your colour palette. I will show you everything I am going to use.

  • If you are comfortable with it, I will request that we record the process.

  • I will first set your hair then move on and start the makeup application, then finish your hair.

The day after:

  • I will send you al the pictures and video to go over and decide wether there is anything you would like to change. You can just whats app that through to me.

  • I will send you all the notes we made during the trial. The colour of the eyeshadow and lipstick etc.

Duration of the trial is 2 hours for both makeup and hair and 1 hour for either just makeup or just hair. If you are planning on trying out two different hairstyles for the trial you need to give me a heads up so that I can schedule extra time in for you.

It is a good idea to bring with your bridesmaid, mom or mother in law. My studio space is tiny but we will put them somewhere comfortable.

Hopefully I have taken some of the stress out of it for you and now you can just enjoy the process.
